MANHATTAN, (TAV)– Sean “Diddy” Combs was sentenced Friday to 50 months in federal prison, a stunning fall for the music mogul who once stood at the center of hip-hop culture.
A jury in July cleared Combs of racketeering and sex trafficking charges but found him guilty of transporting women across state lines for prostitution. The verdict followed weeks of testimony describing abuse, coercion, and so-called “freak-offs,” leaving the courtroom with a portrait of a star whose power long shielded him from accountability.
Judge Arun Subramanian said Combs’s wealth and philanthropy could not erase the damage inflicted, ordering not only prison time but a $500,000 fine and five years of supervised release.
Combs, 55, told the court he was “broken to my core” and asked for mercy, but the apology did little to change the outcome. With credit for more than a year already served, he faces just over three additional years in prison.
