Two Black Justices, Clarence Thomas and Ketanji Brown-Jackson faced-off in dueling opinions, with Thomas the oldest-serving Justice anchoring his argument on the idea that affirmative action stigmatizes Blacks and Hispanics. Brown Jackson, the newest Justice on the court argued that past injustices are yet to be corrected putting minority groups at a disadvantage and colleges should be permitted (not required) to use race as a factor for admission.

Judge Jackson becomes the first Black woman to ever serve as a Supreme Court Justice. He confirmation hearing was tainted by petty attacks from some Republicans who questioned her record as a judge with baseless accusations that she was soft on crime.

If Confirmed, she will be the first black woman to serve as a justice in the US Supreme Court. She's come to the confirmation process with a respectable resume rarely seen among Supreme Court nominees.
