In his shadow cabinet line-up, Odinga offered Musyoka a chief minister position, similar to the position Deputy President William Ruto offered ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi.

Opinion polls have shown Martha Karua to be the most preferred running mate for Azimio leader Raila Odinga. If nominated, Karua will be the first woman in Kenya's history to be nominated as deputy by a party that could win the election. She will be tasked with hunting for votes in the Mt. Kenya region, which has traditionally refused to vote for Odinga.

Due to low participation, the poll is inconclusive and should not be considered a barometer of the future. But it shows there is a changing perception in favor of Prime Minister Raila Odinga in the Mt. Kenya region, possibly due to support from President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Registration will take place at Kenyan Embassies, Consulate Offices, and High Commissions. In The U.S. Kenyans can register in Washington DC, Los Angeles Consulate Office, and Kenyan Consulate Office at the UN in New York. Kenyans must appear in person to register.
